Privacy Policy

Elite Hockey Skills is owned and operated by Daniel McNamara (Coach Dan) in Collingwood, Ontario, Canada. This policy explains what information we collect from parents and players, why we collect it, who we share it with, and what your rights are.

We keep this short and plain. If you have a question that is not answered here, email coachdan@elitehockeyskills.com or call 705-607-1299.

1. What we collect

We only collect what we need to run camps and ice sessions. That includes:

• Parent information. Your name, email, phone number, mailing address (when given at registration).
• Player information. Your child's first and last name, age, position, and skill level.
• Account login. Email and password (if you create an account on the site).
• Payment details. If you pay by Interac e-Transfer, we receive the amount, your email, and the memo line. If we add a credit card processor in the future, full card data goes directly to that processor and we never see it.
• Site usage. Pages you visit, device type, approximate location from your IP, referring source. This is collected by Google Analytics 4 and Google Ads.
• Email engagement. Whether you open or click links in emails we send you.

2. Why we collect it

• To process camp registrations and ice session bookings.
• To send payment instructions, confirmations, balance reminders, and camp updates.
• To group players on the ice by age and skill safely.
• To respond when you contact us.
• To send marketing emails about new camps and programs, only if you have registered before or opted in. You can unsubscribe at any time.
• To measure how the website is performing and improve it.

3. Who we share information with

We do not sell your information. We share only what is needed with the services that help us run the business:

• Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore database, Storage). Our website is built on Firebase. Player and parent data is stored there in Google data centres.
• Vercel. Website hosting.
• Resend and Namecheap PrivateEmail. Email delivery for registration confirmations, reminders, and marketing emails.
• Google Analytics 4 and Google Ads. Site traffic measurement and conversion tracking.
• Stripe. Used for any credit card transactions if and when added.
• Anthropic Claude. Used by Coach Dan internally to read rink schedule screenshots. No parent or player data is sent to Claude.
• Law enforcement and courts. If we are legally required to disclose information by a Canadian court or competent authority.

These services have their own privacy practices. They are not allowed to use your information for their own marketing.

4. Children's information

Our camps are for hockey players ages U8 through U16. Registrations are made by a parent or legal guardian, not by the child directly. We collect only the player information needed to run a safe hockey camp, like name, age, position, and skill level.

We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13 outside of what a parent provides during registration. If you believe we have collected information from a child without parental consent, email us and we will delete it.

We do not show photos or names of named minor players in marketing without explicit parent permission. Players named on our website have given that permission.

5. Cookies and tracking

The site uses standard cookies for keeping you logged in, remembering your cart selections, and measuring traffic. Google Analytics and Google Ads set cookies to count visitors and track ad performance.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser. Most of the site still works without them, but parts of registration may not save your progress.

6. How long we keep your information

• Registration and player records are kept indefinitely so we can verify past attendance and re-enrol returning players easily.
• Payment records are kept for 7 years to satisfy Canada Revenue Agency requirements.
• Email marketing lists are kept until you unsubscribe.
• Site analytics data is retained per Google Analytics defaults (14 months by default at the time of writing).

You can ask us to delete your account and personal information at any time. We will keep only what we are legally required to keep.

7. Your rights

Under Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA), you have the right to:

• Know what personal information we hold about you.
• Correct any information that is wrong or out of date.
• Withdraw consent for marketing emails by clicking unsubscribe in any email, or by emailing us.
• Request a copy of your information or have it deleted.

To make any of these requests, email coachdan@elitehockeyskills.com. We will respond within 30 days.

8. Security

We protect your data with the standard security controls that Google Firebase, Vercel, and Stripe provide. The site is served over HTTPS. Account passwords are never visible to us; they are hashed by Firebase Authentication.

No system is perfectly secure. If we ever discover a breach involving your information, we will tell you and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada as required by law.

9. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy in a way that affects how your data is used, we will update the effective date at the top and post a notice on the home page. Your continued use of the site after that means you accept the updated policy.
